Rules

To keep order and conduct at Hogwarts, we will need a few rules. Please read them and obey them. Break one and we'll send you to Azkaban where you can have Dementors as friends instead of us.

Be respectful! Treat each member with the respect they deserve. We understand that you can't get along with everyone, but you can at least be civil. Keep any Out of Character fights out of the boards and cbox and into PMs, or some medium that’s outside this site. Not here.

Keep the drama in check! Our members vary in ages, so we need to be considerate of them. We understand that these are hormonal teens and adults, but any drama concerning rape, drugs or pregnancies must be checked with the staff first. Any fights must be In Character.

If a thread has a high rating (above PG-13), please start it in the Restricted Section instead of its actual location. PM a staff member for the password.

Images must be clean. All avatars must be 100x100 images of your character. No icons! No exceptions! Signatures can vary in size, but they must not stretch the page (we prefer a size of 500) and they cannot be above the height of 450. No nudity, drugs or alcohol in the images. We will take it down without warning.

This is an intermediate site! All posts must be two paragraphs or more. A paragraph must have a six sentence minimum. The only exception to this is if it is back and forth chit chat, but even then try for a paragraph. No one-liners! Add detail, thoughts and emotions to make it longer. No god-modding or double posting. These posts will be deleted without warning! Proper English grammar must be used. All posts should be in 3rd person. If anything is Out of Character please use [blah blah] or ((etc etc)).

Warnings will be given and the warning system will be used. You will be sent a warning PM for the first offense, but break a rule again and we will enable the warning system to 30%. Do it again and it'll be up to 60% and your account(s) will be disabled for one to three days. Once more and consider yourself banned.

Keep characters active! You are allowed as many characters as you can keep up with, but you must have them all active. Keep in mind that we need a good population of boys and girls of various ages.

No spamming! That means anywhere - on the boards, the applications or on the cbox. Its really unnecessary and you will be warned for it. If it continues you will be banned!

Have fun! We want you to have a wonderful experience at Hogwarts. Invite your friends and help us advertise!

Members must abide with the Proboards Terms of Service. That means you are 13 years or older with parental permission, can write in English and will not promote "the use of illegal drugs, alcohol, sex, pornography, nudity, or any other form of adult content, profanity, hate, "spam," fraud, racism, mlm, pyramid schemes, or promote any illegal activity." HOGWARTS RULES

Hogwarts has many rules, and only a few of them are mentioned throughout our beloved Harry Potter books. The following will be enforced by Prefects and Professors at Hogwarts, if caught.

1. Students are not allowed to enter the Forbidden Forest.

2. Fighting is not tolerated at Hogwarts. Detentions will be handed out and points will be docked.

3. Students are to remain in their dormitories or common rooms after ten at night.
-only 5th year and above are allowed out on the corridors after nine o'clock

4. No magic is to be done in the corridors between classes.

5. First Year students are not allowed a broom.

6. The only pets allowed are small pets, such as an owl, a cat, a rat or a toad.

7. In order to get to the restricted section, you must have a signed note by a professor.

8. Students are not allowed to use magic over the school holidays.

9. Only Third Year students and above are allowed to Hogsmeade.

10. Love potions are illegal.

11. No food or drinks inside the classes or the library.

12. Cheating is not tolerated at Hogwarts.

13. Be respectful of the Hogwarts Staff.

CHARACTER RULES

Please read the following rules to know what to do for your character.

1. Your application is the first insight we get to your character. Please make sure you fill it our accordingly and post in the Pending Applications board, under the Sorting Hat. Feel free to write as much as you want, but keep in mind that you must follow our application format.

2. One application per character and account. You cannot have multiple characters on one account. It's too confusing and your account will be deleted without warning.

3. Length requirements are stated in the Application example. Be sure to follow them.

4. We reserve the right to deny a character.

5. Check the canon list for available canons. Keep in mind that not all of the characters are up. Even if the character is mentioned in Harry Potter, but not our list, you still have to remain true to that character. We are all Harry Potter fans, and we will be able to tell the difference.

6. In order to join, you have to be accepted by a staff member. In situations where close affiliations are made with canon characters, if the related canon is taken at the time, talk with the person before posting your app. The application must be reviewed and accepted by the existing canon.

7. You will have three chances to get your application accepted. After the original posting, two rewrites will be allowed. After the second rewrite, your application will be locked and denied. You won't be allowed to create the same character again, but you will be allowed to use the account for another character.

8. Only post a complete application. If you post an incomplete application, it will be considered your first attempt and will therefore have two more attempts to improve it when staff requests it.

9. You are terrified of purple monkeys holding carrots. Might want to remember that.

10. You may not post in the boards until your character has been accepted. That also includes the Out of Character boards . If your character is not accepted you will have two weeks to prove yourself or delete your character(s).

11. No characters shall be accepted with traits such as Werewolf or Vampire. You can be half-giant, half-veela, half-dwarf, half-hag, half-goblin or whatever, but you will only have a few magical immunities! Also, if you want to have a special characteristic such as an Animagus or Metamorphmagi then please bear in mind that these are very rare things, especially if you are a student! Keep in mind that Metamorphmagi traits are genetic. Occlumency and Legillimency are rare as well, and take years of practice. So please understand that this may be denied in your application.

12. Keep in mind that Hogwarts is in the UK, not the US. We need a diverse student body, not and American one. Even if the character has American heritage, try to ensure that they have lived in the UK for a while.
