And years come, and years go, time runs dry

The year is 1880, It's been almost 10 years since the devastating fire at the Opera Populair. The terrifying story is starting to be forgotten and the opera house remains abandoned no one dares to go near the cursed Opera House in fear that the ghost of the Phantom still haunts it. But life still continues, many of those who worked at the Opera Populair have either moved to work at the Opera Magnificant or have taken up new jobs, but there is one person who hasn't moved on. The Phantom; Erik Claudin.

And sometimes at night time, i dream that you are there, but wake holding nothing but the empty air

Still broken from when he let Christine go, he is in constant torment from loosing her and sees aspects of her everywhere he goes. Many people still believe he is alive including Raoul de Chagney and has asked the police to continue their search for the disfigured madman to ensure that his wife and his son are safe from harm. But all of this is putting a strain on the youn Christine and her soul longs to return to a life within an opera house.

My broken soul, can’t be alive and whole, till i hear you sing once more

Though the Phantom sees death as a release for his pain and would gladly welcome it he has found the strength the live on remembering that Christine showed him that he can be loved and despite his inability to forget his angel he feel captivated by a young girl with yellow hair. Her voice is so soft and pure that it has captivated the Phantom. He sees a sadness and lonliness within her that he recognises in himself and he wants to help free her, but the only way he can do that is to once again embrace the music of the night.
