The Character
Name: Raiden Yannic Phoenix
Nicknames: Rai
Birthdate: June 17th
Year: 6th
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Mostly Straight
Blood Status: Half
House: Hufflepuff
Canon or Original: Original
The Appearance
Hair: Black. He doesn’t really style it, preferring to just wake up, run his fingers through it and leave. It’s cut to be choppy and jagged, relatively short but still longer than standard.
Face: Grey eyes. His nose is a little long, and he’s almost always got some type of smile on his face.
Body & Style: There’s no logical reason that Raiden should be as skinny as he is, considering how much food he eats. But somehow he remains rather slim, making his shoulders look broader than they really are. He generally has good posture when he’s standing, but when he’s sitting on a couch or a comfy chair in the common room, good luck getting him to sit straight. Sometimes it’s really confusing, trying to figure out how he fits his 6’1 frame into such small spaces.
Distinguishing Features: Raiden has a habit of wearing shirts or vests that look to be from historical eras, and has a very expressive face.
Face Claim: Brendon Urie
The Magic
Wand: 10 inches, Holly, Dragon Heartstring
Mirror of Erised: Raiden surrounded by family
Dementor: All of Raiden's friends and the people he cares for swarming on him with cries of "you're worthless" and "you're just too weird" and "you can never do anything right" and other phrases of similar meaning
Patronus: golden lion tamarin monkey. He uses the memory of his and Roxie’s intervention for Rin, which kick-started their unconventional relationship.

Strengths:
- Raiden is pretty good at knowing what people need. Somehow, he manages to say what the person needs to hear, or do what they need to happen.
- Raiden is quick on his feet. He’s good at making up things as he goes along, and having them turn out pretty well.
- Raiden is a people person. He can talk to anyone, even if he doesn’t know them, and usually gets a pretty good conversation out of it.
Weaknesses:
- Raiden rambles. A lot. He’ll just start talking and it just keeps going. So, sometimes, it’s difficult to listen to him because its easy to lose track of his train of thought.
- Raiden can be really, really unobservant. For the most part, if it’s not involving him or one of his close friends directly, he doesn’t know about it.
- Raiden is terrified of someday everyone deciding that he’s simply too weird and that they can’t stand him anymore. So, sometimes he’ll alter his behavior to be more ‘normal.’
Plans for the Future: Raiden doesn’t have any specific plans pertaining to a career. All he knows is that he wants a family, and that he’ll find a job if he needs to.
Personality: Raiden is the King of Left Field. He’s the one who will sit on the side of a group seemingly not paying attention, and then come in with a comment that makes perfect sense to him but which everyone else needs to think about. He also responds to comments that were never said, mostly in defense of himself and his actions or words.
He is fiercely loyal to his friends, but sometimes his sarcasm gets him into hot water.
Raiden is a good student, on the smarter side of average. He has a habit of throwing in unnecessarily big words, but that mostly comes out when he is trying to A) fill in space/time, B) show off, or C) show that he is getting annoyed with you. He has a bit of a diversion to studying, figuring that if he doesn’t know it by a certain point, he’s not going to for the test, either.
Raiden is a big equality supporter, but still lands on the chivalrous side. He opens doors and offers his arm, though mostly jokingly, to anyone he is friendly with. He also offers to carry things for anyone who looks like they might have some difficulty. He gets along with most everyone and is very easy-going and accepting, but some people he just does not get on with – usually the people who are arrogant or disrespectful, or who refuse to see another side to a point besides theirs.
The Background
Family Members:
Mother, French witch, Ila, age 35
Father, American Muggle, Cyrus, age 36
Brother, Oritz, age 7
Residence: Hampshire
History: After his mother graduated from Beauxbatons, she convinced her parents to let her travel to America before she set her sights on marrying. In the middle of a Massachusetts airport, she ran into an intriguing character in the form of a man with hair as black as night and a charming smile. Literally, she ran into him, knocking his sideways. They locked eyes for a second, then both jumped to animation with apologies and gathering of belongings on both parts. She felt a strong urge to apologize properly, over lunch or a drink, but her flight was leaving soon and he was in a hurry, if the way he had been running towards a terminal was any indication.
All thoughts of the Man She Ran Into left her head… mostly… and she continued about her exploring. Two weeks later, she stepped off a plane at Midway airport, in Chicago. Her flight had been packed, and the majority of her fellow passengers started heading towards the outside doors to catch a cab. Knowing she’d be stuck for hours if they all got there before her, she started to run towards the cabs. This was her fatal error. She had horrible balance when she was standing still, but running… well… would you take a toddler just learning to walk and put them on a running-speed treadmill? This was about equivalent. To no one’s surprise, well, except maybe everyone she’d just gotten off the plane with, she ran into someone, sending them both immediately to the ground. Halfway through her apology ramble, she realizes the person she’s laying on wasn’t trying to get up. Looking up, she sees that she’d run into the same man from the Massachusetts airport. After a bit more staring and a minute or so of silence, she offered to apologize formally over coffee, seeing as she’d now plowed him over twice.
Two years later, Raiden was born. He became well acquainted with the neighborhood kids and enjoyed his classes at his elementary school. When Raiden was 7 years old, his parents sat him down in the living room and explained that they would have to leave. His grandmother had fallen ill. He knew this would be big – his paternal grandparents had died when he was only a baby, and his mom’s parents lived Far Away where everyone talked like mommy did.
After Raiden’s family moved to England, his grandmother began a slow recovery. Unwilling to leave until her mother was in full health, Ila kept Raiden and Cyrus within two minutes’ travel in a house down the street from her mother. Once her mother was in full health again, she did not want to leave England again, and the Phoenix family settled in Hampshire.
When Raiden was 9 his parents had his younger brother, Oritz. Raiden enjoyed having a little brother to play with, and was always making up new games to keep Oritz smiling.
On his 11th birthday, Raiden received his Hogwarts letter as well as a letter from Beauxbatons. Though Ila would have liked for her sons to attend her Alma Mater, she knew that her energetic son would fare better at the more liberal Hogwarts. His first, second and third years passed without much spectacular happening, besides triggering Raiden’s love of heights and flying. In his 5th year, Raiden dated Esme, his best friend, but they soon realised that they were far better off as friends than anything else.
Then along came Rin. And with Rin came Roxie. Raiden wasn’t sure he could describe accurately exactly what their relationship was. The closest he could get was “a two-sided triangle” but Esme likes to tell him that doesn’t make sense. Whatever it is, though, he’s happy with it.
The Member
Member Name: Cait
Other Characters: Not app’d yet, but eventually Lucius, Peter, Roxie and Enny.
Where did you find us: Veteran, but I’m only a vet ‘cos of Manda.
What is your boggart: purple monkeys holding carrots. They’re terrifying.
RP Example:Raiden was in the library. He was always in the library. Well, not always, but frequently. He had holed himself up in his favorite corner with one of the library’s few non-resource books in an even rarer armchair. He loved this corner because it was out of sight of Madam Pince’s immediate sight, but he could still watch everyone else from his secluded little corner.
His shoes lay discarded in front of the chair as he sat sideways with one foot underneath him and his other leg over an arm of the chair. Humming as softly as he could, Raiden became absorbed into the main character as he lost himself in his fantasy land.
However, he earned himself a strong reprimand when his “background music” hit a high point and he burst out singing, complete with a brief but energetic dance sequence. Stopping himself quickly, he picked up his book from where he’d thrown it into the chair and fell back into position, once again becoming enthralled from the simple words.
