Personality:Where does one start with Andromed Diantha Black. Well, I suppose one could start with stating that she’s complicated. Extremely complicated. Having been brought up by unattached parents, she is extremely independent and prides herself with being able to look after herself and others as well. She is used to taking responsibility for her well being and likes to be able to make her own decisions about her life. Since her parents didn’t give her any help in growing up she doesn’t see why they reserve the right to decide her future for her. Being quite headstrong this has caused many clashes with her family, something that has come to expect when she’s home, so she seems to be in a constant state of ‘putting my foot on the ground.’ In the Black family Andromeda has always shouldered the role of mother when dealing with her younger sister and her cousins. Even though Sirius is a year older, Andromeda still looks after him and feels responsible for him. She tries to make herself available to talk to and tries too hard to fix other people’s problems. Even with her mother she feels the need to help her when she’s having a hard time. She’s a very good mediator because she’s good at listening to both sides and figuring out what the problem is.
Andromeda is also sarcastic. Her sense of humor can be a little on the…. cynical side. She’s not afraid to tell it like she sees it and, when she sees fit, spares no feelings when someone needs to hear the truth. Because her feelings don’t get hurt easily she seems to forget that others can be sensitive to criticism, especially when dealing with someone who is not close to her. Unlike her family she doesn’t exactly judge someone on their blood status, instead she sees everyone on equal ground and if she likes you, she likes you, if she doesn’t like you, too bad for you. Since this is the case she has people on both sides of the blood argument who don’t particularly count her in their favorite people. Andromeda’s is observant and loves to watch people as they go about their daily lives. She’s quite good at meeting a person and telling what kind of person they are. She makes her mind up quickly about people, which can be a negative because she’s far too apt to dismiss a person that she doesn’t think she’d like. While Andromeda is good at listening to other people’s problems and solving their lives, she’s not good at talking to other people. Andromeda has a tendency to bottle up her feelings and acting like things are great. She’s extremely convincing with this, as most people can’t tell when something is bothering her. However, this self-contained nature leads to her repressing her problems and feelings until they blow up. It can take awhile for the blowup to happen, but it always does. Sometimes it happens when she’s by herself, and she’s very good at hiding these episodes, but sometimes she takes her frustration out on people.
This same self-contained nature makes Andromeda very contrary to others. She can say one thing but mean another and it’s hard to figure Andromeda out. When you become closer to her and she actually lets the walls down and lets you in, you can learn to understand her real feelings, but to others she’s a contradiction within herself. Both positively and negatively, Andromeda is extremely ambitious. She knows what she wants and will go to almost any means to get it. Stemming from her upbringing, Andromeda has no problem lying to people to further her own cause. If she’s close to someone she is less likely to lie, but if she’s not she doesn’t feel bad bypassing someone to get what she wants. Give Andromeda a rule and she can figure out a way around that rule. Andromeda also, when she gets pissed off, can have quite a terrifying temper. Sometimes it takes something big to spark her temper, but if she’s in a bad mood any little thing can set her off. Since she is a Black, she can be quite terrifying when she wants to be, especially when she is telling someone off. Her contrary nature adds to the temper that she has, since she can go from extremely angry to calculatingly charming in a split-second.
If you are friends with Andromeda, you have a faithful, self-sacrificing friend. If you are enemies with Andromeda—watch out.

History:
Andromeda was born into the most noble and ancient house of Black. Druella Rosier and Cygnus Black were married because their parents saw a beneficial union for both families. Druella was a headstrong and ambitious girl, not unlike Andromeda, and Cygnus was a womanizing and proud young man. Neither liked each other, but understood their responsibility to their families. They were married and expected to produce an air. It was evident from the start that neither cared for each other enough to get along, and Cygnus did not respect Druella enough to be a faithful husband to her. Out of some random act of friendliness they produced three daughters… no sons. This fact was an extreme disappointment to the Black family, as they had to then depend on Walburga Black (Cygnus’s older sister who happened to have married another side of the Black family) to produce an heir to the Black fortune. Of course to Cygnus this lack of heir was entirely Druella’s fault and any glimmer of hope that the two would get along was lost. Cygnus began spending all of his time in London or Paris, doing Merlin knows what during his time away. This left Druella at home with the three girls. Being rich and influential, Druella naturally had nannies to look after the children and the only parental guidance she gave her girls was to teach them how to be a proper pure-blood lady and an upstanding member of the Black family.
This was Andromeda’s childhood. She relied on nannies to look after her needs and her younger sister and friends for entertainment. Bellatrix was always slightly aloof from her sisters, not seeing any reason to look after Andromeda or Narcissa, because they needed to learn to look after themselves. She still played with her siblings and was a part of their lives, but not in any kind of nurturing way. This lack of motherly affection made Andromeda self-sufficient and she learned to ignore her own problems. However, because of her motherly nature, she took on the job of looking after Narcissa and her cousins Regulus and Sirius. As she grew up she began observing her mother and understanding why her mother was the way she was. Andromeda has always said, “I really think my mother did the best job with what she had. She didn’t grow up with a nurturing mother, and Druella is far from a motherly person. She didn’t know how to be a mother, but I really think she loved us in her own insufficient way.” She also saw the way her parents fought, the way her father threatened her mother and his daughters, and came to the conclusion that that life was not what she wanted. Her independence also led her to the belief that she should be able to make her own decisions about what happens in her life, not her father who doesn’t even know her. The childhood that developed this belief was not all bad, she loved her sisters, cousins, and mother, and because she didn’t really know any different, she learned to be happy and enjoy the small things in life.
As Andromeda grew older she began to feel the strain of being a Black. To always be the best, brightest, prettiest, and always at the top of the world, was what being a Black meant. She received her Hogwarts letter when she turned eleven and was shipped off to school. There she was expected to be a Black, but it was there that she was introduced to a whole new world. She realized that the ‘mudbloods’ she had been taught to despise were human as well, and some she liked better than the pure-bloods. She began to rid herself of the beliefs that her parents had instilled in her and started making her own decisions about people. While this has made her be at odds with her family at some points, she believes that it is the right thing to do and won’t waiver on that fact. She has just enough good pure-blood friends to keep her parents from completely freaking out, but she is definitely her own person with her own beliefs and morals. Her years at Hogwarts have been a learning experience and she has grown up quite a lot during her school years. She’s now a sixth year and about to put her beliefs to the test.

Where did you find us: Honey, I’ve been here for awhile ;) I checked out, but never left.
RP Example:When Alistair approached her, Deirdre looked up and smiled at the boy. He looked quite handsome in his black tuxedo and the half-Dryad was sure that this was going to be a good night. The flowers he gave her made the Gryffindor gasp and she accepted the sweet peas with a pleased smile. "My favorite!" She exclaimed and impulsively kissed Alistair. Regaining her composure, Deirdre smoothed her dress out and, at Alistair's compliment, lowered her eyes as modest girls were supposed to do. However, the demure facade she put on was broken when she gave Alistair a wink and an impish grin. "Why thank you. You look quite handsome yourself. You should wear a tux more." She told him, devilishly enjoying the reaction that she would no doubt get from the Ravenclaw. Deirdre knew that tuxedos and restricting formal clothes made Alistair quite uncomfortable, but she couldn't resist teasing him about such things.
Suddenly, the fact that Alistair had said he was late registered with Deirdre. How could he be late to their first ball together! Granted, Deirdre could have possibly been late too and she would have had no idea that he was running behind if he hadn't told her, but she still felt that this was something that shouldn't go unmentioned. "You're late!" She exclaimed. "Oh, Alistair." The very way she said his name sounded disappointed and she shook her head mournfully. Suddenly, an idea occurred to her. She could play this out perfectly to her advantage, maybe get Alistair to finally commit to another level of dating. "I thought you liked me more than that." She said pitifully, biting her lip and giving Alistair a hurt and yearning look. This trick never failed when she was trying to get her father to admit something to her, and so far it had worked on every other boy she had ever dated. Sure Alistair was different than most boys she dated, she certainly felt different about him, but that didn't mean he wasn't perceptible to her wheedling ways.
Looking down at the flowers Alistair had given her, Dierdre smelled them and then gave Alistair a smoldering look. "You do like me, don't you?" She asked, taking a step closer to Alistair and looking up at him with her most winsome smile. Putting her hand on the Ravenclaw's arm, Deirdre made a show of looking him up and down. "You look awfully handsome in that suit, did I mention that?" She asked innocently, absently taking her hand off of his arm and playing with the hair that hung down over one shoulder. For a moment she felt bad about using her charming tricks on Alistair. She really liked him and felt that maybe forcing something out of him was not what she should do. The feeling was gone quickly, however, when she reminded herself that he was a man, and men were hopeless. They needed the help and Alistair should be thanking her for the help she was giving him. With this assurance, Deirdre turned on the full force of her coy smile and gave Alistair another impulsive kiss.
