Enny had never moved this fast in his entire life. He was currently running through his house, frantically, trying to make everything perfect before Jenny arrived. Of course this was unnecessary - he'd taken care of everything at least a week ago - but he couldn't help it. He had to make sure that no one had splashed water on the bathroom mirror, or slept in the guest bed, or anything else.
Enny knew the house was spotless, but he couldn't sit still. It was 11:45 and Jenny was due to arrive at Noon. His mam was in the kitchen getting lunch ready so they could eat as soon as Jenny arrived and got settled in. His dad was in the den, reading the newspaper. With nothing else to clean, Enny was now pacing going from room to room, making sure that nothing had changed.
Logically, Enny knew that it was entirely unnecessary to be as worried as he was. He knew that Jenny woudn't care what his house looked like. But no mater how much Jenny wouldn't mind anything, the fact of the matter remained that Jenny was the first person he had ever invited over. She was his first real friend. Sarah had been his friend, but he had only gotten to know her for two weeks. He was friendly enough with his housemates, but not enough to warrant inviting them over. Jenny was the first. Enny was nearly seventeen years old, and he had never had a friend over in his life. He was freaking out.
Eventually, his pacing ended up in the den, where the fireplace was. Jenny had gotten her father to temporarily connect Enny's house to the Floo Network, just for one day. A muggle family had no reason to be on the Floo Network. They had always jsut made a trip out of getting to Diagon Alley for his school supplies in the end of August, and staying a day or two in a hotel until it was time to get on the Hogwarts Express on September 1st. Enny only had one year left at Hogwarts until he could get his apparition license, so it really wasn't important for them to be connected. Also, Enny was worried about the potential for people to accidentally come through into their house by mistake, and he didn't want to worry his parents.
Mr. Britton had come by to discuss the connection with him and his family. His parents had understood just enough to know that Jenny would be arriving through the Floo Network, but they still weren't sure exactly what that meant. The only place their floo connected to was their chimney, how could anyone come in through it?
Daffyd Jones looked up from his newspaper soon after his son entered the room. He had never seen his boy so would up, not even when he was small.
He knew that his son was anxious, and to be perfectly honest so was he. The fact that Carwyn had invited someone over was a tremendous step for him. And for the person to be a girl, who Carwyn had shyly admitted he was dating, well, Daffyd had to admit that he was rather astounded. He didn't know how it happened, the most he could get out of Carwyn when he asked was something about snow, but Daffyd and Carys were glad to see that their son was finally opening up.
"Carwyn, calm down. The house won't fall apart if you stop feeding it kinetic energy."
Enny slowed down, but couldn't quite manage to stop entirely. "I can't help it, Tad. I'm nervous. Everything has to be perfect. I mean, she won't mind any if it's not, but it just has to be."
Turning back towards the fireplace, Enny was just in time to see it erupt into bright green flames. "Mam!" He called to his mother, and luckily the kitchen was only one room over from their den, "She's here!"

Two weeks. Two freaking weeks. That’s how long it had been since school let out and since she saw Enny, and they had seemed to drag by extremely slow. Normally Jenny loved summer holidays and being home with her family. It wasn’t that it had been a bad two weeks either. She had a lot of fun seeing her sisters (they came over all the time) and seeing her nieces and nephews. Grace had one year old twins and now she was pregnant again so she needed a lot of help. It had been a nice two weeks. However Jenny was really excited to see Enny again. Jenny was not the “needy, has to be with her boyfriend 24-7” type. Jenny was very independent. However this boyfriend was very different than any of her other boyfriends had been in the past and they really did spend a lot of time together. So she missed him. She wasn’t embarrassed by that. Her sisters thought she was hilarious. Well they thought the fact that she was in a serious relationship with a serious boy hilarious. Jenny was anything but serious. Even Hannah (who always insisted that Jenny was going to be a child forever) had admitted there was something different about their baby sister.
Today was finally the day she would be going to his house. Her father had stopped by after work the previous day to discuss things with Enny’s parents and to arrange to have the floo network hooked up to their house for the afternoon. Jenny was going to be staying with his family for two or three weeks. Then Enny was going to come to her house for a few weeks, and then they’d probably spend the last few weeks with their families. Jenny wasn’t sure exactly. Planning was not her area of expertise. Besides, things could change in an instant deciding on when Grace’s baby decided to come. She was definitely going to be in the muggle world for a few weeks though. That was another thing the redhead was looking forward to. She had never spent more than a day in a muggle place. She wouldn’t even be able to do magic. (Which Jenny’s mother was amused by. She had warned her daughter countless times that she might get stuck somewhere without magic.) Jenny was really looking forward to it though. It would definitely be a new experience and Jenny loved those. Plus, she really wanted to get to know Enny’s parents. He never really talked about them much. What he had said were good things though.
Jenny had barely been able to sleep the night before. All she could think about was her excitement. It was finally time for her to go. Jenny’s father would be transporting her stuff via magic so she didn’t have to try and hold on to it in the floo network. After saying good bye to her parents and Grace, Jenny stepped inside the fireplace with her hand of floo powder and threw into the flames and said, very clearly, “17 Shoals Hook Lane.” She felt that very familiar tug and felt herself transported through the network and into a different mantle. She stepped out of the fireplace trying not to get soot all over the place but some still landed on the carpet anyways. She was dressed in jean shorts and a grey t-shirt with a large scarlet G on it. Her hair was a little blonder then usual from all the sun, and of course very curly. It also happened to have soot in it, but Jenny wasn’t concerned about that. She took two large steps and through her arms around the Ravenclaw and kissed him lightly before giving him a hug. “I’ve missed you,” she said eyes shining as she looked up at him. After a second she realized she should probably introduce herself to his parents though. She stepped back and turned to look at the couple standing next to each other. “Hi!” she said brightly. “I’m Jenny.”

Enny didn't have time to register anything more than that Jenny was here before the girl had thrown herself at him and kissed him. In front of his parents. He managed enough presence of mind to kiss her back lightly, but instantly turned bright red. He hadn't even quite managed to talk about Jenny to his parents, but here she kissed him in front of both of them. He hadn't been ready for that.
Jenny took over her own introduction, so after gathering himself back together a bit, Enny said, "Jenny, this is my Mam and Tad."
Enny's confidence wavered and he looked down towards the floor only to notice black-grey marks across his blue t-shirt. Soot. But the only way h could have gotten soot on him was if... Looking back up at Jenny, he saw that she was covered in soot from the Floo.
"You'll have to change your clothes before we can eat lunch. Those are covered in soot, and there's no cleaning charms here." Somehow, Enny knew that this would be the first of many on the "Charms Not Available Here" list.
Carys Jones hurried over from the kitchen when she heard her son call, and arrived just in time to see a girl throw her arms around Carwyn and kiss him. Well, that was unexpected. She knew he was dating this girl, though she didn't know much else. Her son really was quite shy, so when she saw Carwyn kiss Jenny back, she couldn't help but smile. He obviously cared for her immensely.
The next thing Carys noticed was that Jenny was covered in soot. Had she really come through the fireplace?! "It's lovely to meet you dear. But Carwyn is right, I'm afraid I'll have to ask you to change your clothes. But as soon as you won't get soot all over my kitchen, and as soon as my son stops fidgeting, I have sandwiches ready for us. You can pick from ham, turkey, and egg salad."
As soon as she mentioned changing, Carys began looking around for the room for Jenny's luggage. "Dear, didn't you bring any luggage with you?"
Daffys folded his paper when Carwyn announced that Jenny was here, though he wasn't sure exactly how his son knew that. Then he noticed that their fireplace, previously empty since it was summertime, was full of bright green flames . And then a girl came out of it. If he hadn't just seen it himself, he wouldn't have believed it. Carwyn and Mr. Britton had explained the theory of the Floo Network, but Daffyd mostly jsut used the 'smile and nod' method. But now he'd seen it, and his jaw dropped.
While Jenny jumped on Carwyn, Daffyd managed to regain control of his face and closed his mouth. When Jenny kissed his son, he lost it again. He was so used to Carwyn being quiet and keeping to himself that to see him behaving like a normal boy with his girlfriend was slightly unsettling.
Luckily, Daffyd regained control over himself (again) quickly. "Pleased to meet you, Jenny. Welcome to our home." He didn't say much after the subject of soot came up. his son and his wife had already brought it up, there was no need to reiterate it again.
The sandwiches, however, caught his attention. "Ooh, egg salad?! You never make egg salad!"

“Nice to meet you both. Thank you for letting me come visit,” she said still smiling away. She had never met a boyfriend’s parents before. It didn’t make Jenny as nervous as it would most girls, but she still wanted them to like her. Jenny looked down at her clothes. Her shirt was indeed covered in soot. “Sorry about that. The floo network is usually pretty clean unless a connection isn’t used very often. Which, since this one has never been used before, I guess that makes sense,” she said babbling on a little bit. She had used the floo network a thousand times before, but she didn’t really know all that much about it. Just that it got her from point a to point b. “Oh! I got it all over you too. I’m sorry,” she apologized. Not that she would have not hugged him if she had known of course. A little soot didn’t bother the Gryffindor, but she didn’t want to make a mess in Enny’s mum’s clean house either.
Jenny glanced around the room for her bag. “Dad said he was going to transport it here a few minutes after I left. He didn’t want me to carry it with me. Sometimes it takes a bit to come through. Then again, he might have just forgotten. He’s terribly absent minded. Mum will see it though and remind him soon enough.” There she went, babbling again. She glanced at Enny biting her bottom lip slightly. She wasn’t exactly sure what to do about the lack of bag and the dirty shirt. Normally Jenny (or someone else, because cleaning charms were not her specialty) would just clean it off with a charm. This was going to take a lot of getting used to.
She grinned. Mrs. Jones was definitely a mother. It was odd to hear someone call him Carwyn. He had been Enny to her within minutes of meeting him. Sometimes she forgot it was only a nickname. It made her feel kind of special. Jenny’s forehead wrinkled. “What’s egg salad?” she asked slightly confused. She assumed it was some sort of sandwich, but she was picturing shredded lettuce cooked up in eggs or something and it didn’t really sound like something that would taste very good. Besides, could you even cook lettuce? Surely you could. She couldn’t think of a reason why you wouldn’t be able to. Needless to say, Jenny was not a chef.

Enny smiled when Jenny started rambling. Usually when people rambled that meant they were nervous, but for Jenny it meant she was comfortable. She was behaving how she always did, and it made Enny happy that she wasn't nervous.
Looking back down at his shirt, Enny examined the damage. It really wasn't too bad, it would come out in the wash, but he did need to change his shirt before lunch. Jenny needed to change worse, though. "Looks like we both need to change our clothes. Considering that your luggage hasn't arrived yet, you can borrow some of mine. Take off your shoes first, though, so you don't track the soot around."
Maybe it would have been better to offer his Mam's clothes, but his mam was such a small thing even her biggest clothes would be too small on Jenny. If he was perfectly honest, his mam's clothes would fit Jenny, but he didn't want to have to try to ignore Jenny's body and maintain proper conversation skills. It would just be much easier to have Jenny wear his clothes.
Carys was taken aback at the interaction between her son and his girlfriend. Nevermind that her father was apparently dropping her bags off sometime later (why not just bring them with her?), but her shy son was openly smiling, talking freely, and even offering his clothes to her. Carys' own clothes probably would have been a better fit for the girl, but she wasn't about to contradict he offer her son had just made.
It was such different behavior from how he had always behaved, she wasn't sure how she felt about it. It was wonderful to see her son finally interacting like a normal boy his age, but the change was so sudden she couldn't help but be a little suspicious. She kept her thoughts to herself, though, until she saw them interact more.
Daffyd gave up all pretense of composure. It looked like sending their only child off to a school they knew basically nothing about had paid off in the end. He was happy for Carwyn, especially since it looked like he had found a girl he truly cared for.
"You don't know about egg salad?! What kind of house do you live in!? Egg salad has to be just about the most delicious sandwich filling ever created! There are eggs, and mayonnaise, dill, paprika, mustard, it's got everything! all mixed and mashed up together on some nice hearty bread. It's delicious! As soon as Carwyn finds you some clothes to wear, you've got to have some, I insist!"
Enny's smile, which had started once Jenny arrived, faltered a little when his Tad started to ramble about egg salad. He really was far too fond of a only moderately delicious sandwich.
"Follow me, Jenny. All my clothes are in my room. I should have some things that should fit you alright." Offering his hand, he waited until Jenny had stepped out of her shoes before walking down the hall towards his bedroom.

Jenny nodded when Enny said she could borrow something of his. He was bigger than her, but there was no reason why she couldn’t wear one of her shirts. She supposed that if she really wanted to she could borrow something of his mother’s. She didn’t seem like the type who would be bothered by that. However Mrs. Jones was just a tiny little thing. Jenny was a good few inches taller than her and she had a bigger frame too. (Not that Jenny was large of course, just bigger than Mrs. Jones.) Besides, she wouldn’t want to stretch something out and Enny’s clothes would be more comfortable. Also, Jenny was fairly sure that wearing your boyfriend’s shirt was supposed to be some sort of symbol that would make her really excited if she were like most teenage girls, but she wasn’t. “Sounds like a plan,” she said still smiling.
This whole being with Enny again thing was really putting her in a good mood. She hadn’t been depressed or anything, but she couldn’t deny that being with him again made her even happier than she thought it would. She leaned down to pull her shoes off and held on to Enny’s arm so she didn’t lose her balance and fall over. She would no doubt get soot on the carpet then.
Jenny laughed at Mr. Jones’ explanation of egg salad. She liked him. He was funny. Well that didn’t sound nearly as bad as lettuce mixed in with eggs or anything else she had pictured. She still didn’t know what it was, but it sounded like it was a common muggle food of some sort. “I don’t know what… what did you call it… maynese? Manoise? That stuff is either,” she told him grinning. “If you say it’s delicious I’ll try some though. It sounds interesting anyways. I like to try new things. You can’t not like something if you’ve never tried it, right?” she said babbling cheerfully. She did like to try new things and she wasn’t a picky eater. She had been spoiled with good food her whole life. They had a house elf at home, but her mother did most of the cooking. Missy was quite a bit older than most house elves and six kids in one house involved a lot of work. However she had also eaten some interesting creations of her sisters too.
Jenny nodded when Enny said to follow her so they could both get some clean shirts. She grabbed his familiar hand and linked her fingers in his. Enny had gotten comfortable with the whole hand holding in public thing a long time ago. (Jenny had never been shy about it of course.) She was pleased that he had grabbed her hand in front of his parents though even if it was to lead her back to his bedroom. (Which sounded much dirtier than it actually was.) She gave his parents a little wave with her other hand and followed Enny down the hall to his room.

Walking through his house holding hands with Jenny was making Enny smile ridiculously, just like he had at the carnival the first time they had held hands in public. Leading Jenny into his room, though, was another situation entirely. Nevermind the implications of Enny leading Jenny into his bedroom, alone, those had no place here. Enny had only recently managed to not feel shy about kissing Jenny, or things like that. As much as he didn't want to admit it, Enny couldn't even really think about doing anything more than kissing Jenny yet. It was just yet another detail that made him strange compared to the rest of the boys his age. What 17 year old boy wouldn't have at least thought about those kinds of things about his girlfriend of almost six months? He could only hope that Jenny wasn't tired of waiting for him and planning to jump him or something. He didn't know what he would do then.
Reaching the end of the hallway, Enny pushed open the door to his bedroom. It was nothing spectacular, just simple and plain, but it was how Enny liked it. The walls were a solid light blue with dark wood window frames to match his bedframe. Enny had just a regular single bed with dark blue sheets, made neatly and shoved into the corner farthest from the door. A double-wide window took up about half the right wall, with a plain desk taking up the rest of the space on that wall. What made it Enny's room, though, was that the wall opposite the windows was covered completely with books. Some were obviously quite old, showing the bright colors and thick pages of books meant for small children. Others were obviously well-loved, their edges worn and covers faded. Others were in almost mint condition, and others still were his Hogwarts textbooks from years past. The wooden floors had only a small area rug to give it any warmth, but there was a quite-worn-in armchair in the corner between the end of his bed and his bookshelves.
Entering his room, Enny immediately turned around. His closet was on the same wall as the door was, and you couldn't see it from the doorway unless the closet doors were open. Enny knew that if he looked at the rest of his room, he'd open his mouth and say something stupid. It was safer to just let Jenny form her own opinions without his rambling to figure out if she liked it or not.
Enny shifted through his t-shirts until he found one from years ago. It didn't actually fit him anymore, it was about two sizes too small, but he couldn't seem to bring himself to get rid of it. It was a green shirt, worn until it didn't have any stiffness left in it, from the time his Tad had taken him to a rugby game over a break when he was 13. He hadn't actually enjoyed the game, but it had been nice to be out with his Tad. He didn't care much for clothes, but this was his favorite shirt. Taking it off the hanger, he turned around and offered it to Jenny. "You can wear this one. It might actually fit you. Are your shorts clean, or should I try to find you some pants as well?" Enny turned back to his closet, before he could remember that Jenny was in his bedroom, and grabbed the first shirt he found to wear himself. He didn't care which one he wore, they were all pretty similar anyway.
Meanwhile, back in the den, Carys and Daffyd moved into the kitchen. "She seems nice," Carys said. "I'm glad she's getting Carwyn to come out of his shell some. They kissed when she got here, and they held hands just now. I haven't quite decided whether I should love her to pieces yet or not, I'm worried that Carwyn might not be able to keep up with her, but for now she seems to be quite lovely."
Daffyd listened to his wife babble about their son's girlfriend and nodded his head complacently. "She seems like a nice girl. But I still can't get over that she's never heard of egg salad before!"

Jenny followed her boyfriend down the hall to his bedroom. Those words strung together like that made her kind of want to giggle. Most girls would probably expect their boyfriends to make a move on them when taken to their bedroom. Aside from the fact that his parents were just in the other room waiting for them to come eat lunch, Jenny was fairly certain that Enny would not be making a move on her in his bedroom. Everything about relationships was new to Enny. It had taken ridiculously long for him to kiss her for the first time. (She had been very tempted to make the first move, but she had some how managed to be patient.) So they were taking baby steps. They kissed, snogged, held hands, and that was pretty much it. She wasn’t in some big rush to go much further than that at the moment. She had never slept with a guy before. She had never even been in a serious enough relationship where the possibility might come up, until Enny that is. She wasn’t quite sure what he had in mind though. If she knew him (which she did) he probably avoided thinking about it all. As much as he could anyways.
She closed the door behind her as she stepped into Enny’s bedroom and looked around his room. It was pretty much exactly as she had imagined. Plain, simple, filled with books. It was ridiculously organized too. Jenny’s room was much more cluttered and she had a lot more stuff too. The bookshelves in her room were not filled with books. “You’re such a Ravenclaw,” she teased as she walked around his room looking. “With all these books and the blue. It’s pretty much just what I pictured.” There wasn’t a lot to his room though so she sat on his bed as she waited for him to go about his business and find her a shirt. She looked out the large window into Enny’s backyard. There was a rather nice tree out there. It was definitely a climbing tree. She really doubted that Enny had ever climbed it though. Maybe that could be another adventure of theirs. “Nice view,” she commented as he searched through his closet for a shirt that would fit her.
She got off his bed to take the shirt from him. It did look like it probably would fit her. There was no way it fit Enny anymore. It was obviously well loved though. “No, I think my shorts are okay. Most of it got on my shirt,” she told him. Which was good because she doubted he had a pair of shorts or pants in his closet that would fit her. She walked back towards his bed and set the shirt down on it. Normally Jenny was able to catch most of her moments where the way she did things and the way Enny did things was very different. At least the bigger ones. It was still a work in progress. However, the hustle and excitement of the day apparently clouded her self-censoring. Jenny had grown up in a house full of girls and then she came to Hogwarts where she lived in a room full of girls who had “bravery” in common. She was not a shy girl when it came to anything, and that included changing her shirt. She carefully, so she wouldn’t get anymore ash on her hair or face, slipped off the grey t-shirt she had been wearing. She turned it inside out before setting it on Enny’s bed. Her back was to Enny, but her scarlet bra could no doubt still be seen by the poor boy. She slipped on the green t-shirt. It was an excellent fit and it really was quite soft. She didn’t know what the picture was, but it appeared to be some sort of team like thing. It wasn’t any Quidditch team she had heard of. She did kind of remember someone telling her that muggles had their own sporting things not on brooms. She grabbed her shirt off her bed and turned back around to Enny. “Ready to go?” she asked cheerfully. “I’m kind of excited to try this egg salad stuff. It sounds interesting.”

Enny glanced at the door as Jenny closed it. It wasn't an inappropriate action, ignoring that they were a couple who was now alone together, but it was unexpected. He wasn't exactly sure why she had closed the door, but it wasn't bothering him enough to mention anything. Jenny's comment earned a soft chuckle from Enny. "My room's been blue and filled with books since before I even had an inclination what Ravenclaw was. I suppose it was just meant to be." From her comment about the view, he figured that she had been looking out his window. "It's just my backyard... Though you're probably eying the tree, aren't you?" Enny handed Jenny his -rugby shirt- and turned back to his closet to find himself a shirt. He heard Jenny's footsteps move across his floor and figured she must be investigating more of his room. Pulling a shirt for himself off of its hanger, Enny turned back to face Jenny. "The loo is just down the hall-" Enny's sentence stopped mid-word as Enny turned around. Nothing could have prepared him for the sight of Jenny pulling her shirt over her head. Even though her back was to him, he could still see, quit clearly, the slight curve of her hips leading up towards her back, the flare of her shoulders, already softly tanned from being in the sunshine. Not to mention the bright red stripe of her bra across her back. Enny had never seen this much skin on anyone except for his roommates. Coupled with that he was now face-to-face (face-to-back?) with his currently topless girlfriend, in his bedroom with the door closed, and on top of that he had never allowed any thoughts about Jenny that involved removing any clothes, Enny's brain was on overload. He couldn't help but watch, mesmerized, as the muscles in Jenny's back stretched and moved as she reached for his rugby shirt. The shirt slipped over Jenny's shoulders, once again hiding the curve of her hips and her red bra, and only then could Enny regain enough of himself to quickly turn around and bury his face in the rest of the t-shirts hanging in his closet. He was probably getting soot on some of them, from the dirty shirt he was still wearing, but that tidbit was very far from his mind. Enny's mind was racing. Jenny was in his room, the door was closed, she'd just changed her shirt (into one of his!) with him still in the room without even a mention to keep his back turned, his heart was racing, he wasn't breathing properly anymore, and by Merlin she was beautiful. Jenny laughed when he brought up the tree. He knew her so well. “Yes,” she admitted. “It is a very nice tree. The perfect climbing tree actually. I don’t suppose you spent a lot of time climbing on it though?” she half asked, half stated. Enny really wasn’t the type to climb trees. Jenny had spent a great deal of time in her life time climbing trees and judging by the view from the window you couldn’t build a much better climbing tree.
It was only after Jenny asked Enny if he was ready to go that she realized he had his face buried into the clothes hanging in his closet. “What are you doing En?” she asked her eyebrows crinkling up in confusion. Jenny was normally the one who did strange things, not him. It was almost like he was embarrassed or something. What on earth could he possibly be embarrassed about? It wasn’t like he had said or done anything odd (aside from the whole face hidden in his closet thing) and she really hadn’t said a lot and she hadn’t done anything exce- oh, wait.
It suddenly dawned on her. It was the shirt thing. She had forgotten that it might be inappropriate to change when your boyfriend is in the room. Especially when said boyfriend had not even seen you in a bathing suit, much less a bra. He had probably turned around and just been a little surprised. She didn’t really care if he saw her shirtless. In fact it really wouldn’t bother her if just about any guy saw her without her shirt if she wanted to be completely honest. Her bra covered nearly as much as any bikini would and she was rather fond of her red bra. Not that she was going to go around flashing anyone or anything, but if someone walked in on her changing it really wouldn’t bother her like it would most girls. Of course she did prefer that if some guy were going to see her in her bra that it would be Enny.
She bit her bottom lip so she wouldn’t laugh. He really was freaking adorable sometimes. He was ridiculously shy, and she was ridiculously not shy. They really were an interesting pair. Now though, she needed to calm him down and assure him that it was indeed okay and not really a big deal at all. It wasn’t like she had been naked or anything. She probably shouldn’t say that though. Although she was kind of curious to see what his reaction would be. She walked over to him and put a hand on his shoulder. “It’s okay Enny. It’s not a big deal, honestly. I just forgot that I probably shouldn’t change with a guy in the room. You know me. I’m not really shy so I didn’t think about it.” She had no idea if what she said was actually helping him or not. She tried to pull him out of the closet and turn him so he would face her.

Enny chuckled when Jenny called him out on not climbing his tree. "I'm decidedly unskilled at climbing. I tried to climb that tree once when I was young, and promptly fell out before I even reached the second branch. From there on out I was perfectly content to sit under the tree, rather than in it."
Enny was focusing quite intently on burying his face into his closet and getting himself back under control. Considering that he'd never seen Jenny any less than fully dressed, and that he'd never even thought about Jenny being any less than fully dressed, seeing Jenny change her shirt was such a shock to his system that it was taking him a minute to right himself again. He'd just about managed to get a hold back on himself when he felt Jenny's hand resting on his shoulder.
Jenny's words were meant to be reassuring, he was sure, but in reality they were anything but. Not much could really anger Enny. People talking in the library or being obnoxious in the hallway would just be ignored until they either stopped or passed him. It took a lot to actually anger Enny, and he was quickly learning that Jenny didn't do anything by halves.
"Not a big deal?" Enny removed his face from his closet and turned to face Jenny. "You forgot that you're probably not supposed to suddenly take off your clothes with absolutely no warning when there are other people, let alone a boy, in the room?!" Turning sharply, Enny crossed over to the chair in the far corner, letting Jenny's hand fall away from his shoulder. Pinching the bridge of his nose, Enny tried to focus and not go off completely on a tangent.
"You forgot to not change in front of a boy. You just so happened to overlook the little detail of wearing clothes while you're standing in your boyfriend's bedroom, with him in there as well, the door closed, and both of his parents waiting just down the hall? I know you have issues with foresight, but you at least could've warned me. Something simple, like 'Hey, I'm gonna change my shirt, so stay turned 'round for a minute' or even just a simple 'don't look' would've sufficed."
Turning back towards his bookcases, Enny took a few steps before turning back around again. "What would you have done if you were at any other boy's house besides mine? Would you take off your shirt in front of James Potter? Sirius Black, Lupin, Pettigrew? How about Malfoy, or the Lestrange boys? Dolhov? Does privacy really matter that little to you, that you'll just remove your clothes at whim? What the hell, Jenny?! I know you don't really think anything through, and usually it turns out alright in the end, but I don't know how to handle this one. Usually I can fumble through and work out a way to respond to the situations you get yourself into, but tell me, how am I supposed to react to the little tidbit of knowledge that my girlfriend of almost six months is perfectly willing to change clothes in front of anyone who happens to be passing by?"
Enny knew he was ranting. He was ranting, and repeating himself, but he couldn't help it. He honestly had no idea how to respond to that Jenny will quite easily remove her clothes? He had managed to not say it directly, and was unwilling to admit it, but a small part of him had grown suspicious as to what exactly happens in the Gryffindor common room. Were they all of the same persuasion? Did they all at any point decide that 'hey, this shirt's a little dirty, I should change it!' and strip right then and there?

For once in Jenny’s life the girl was literally completely speechless. She stared at Enny without speaking for about a minute, no trace of smile on her face anymore. Just sort of shocked. She had never seen Enny get even a little bit mad at anyone, especially her. She hadn’t even seen him get really irritated. He didn’t even rant very often. Now he was yelling at her, and, well, he was being kind of mean. For something that really wasn’t a big deal he was really overreacting. Okay, so she probably shouldn’t word it like that again. Apparently she had worded her first response badly. She hadn’t meant that she would strip in front of anyone of course. She just meant if she did it really wouldn’t matter. It’s not like it has to mean anything. That also didn’t make her some kind of slut though. He hadn’t exactly called her that, but it could sort of be implied, but she wasn’t sure that was what he really meant. Her face faded from the ‘shocked’ look to a hurt look once she let everything soak in.
She wasn’t the type to just start crying or something though. She could certainly hold her ground. Jenny never really thought she’d have to against Enny, but she would if she had to. She crossed her arms over her chest finally speaking. She looked more angry than hurt now. “En, I am sorry that I forgot to say something before I changed. I know I need to think more before I do things, but I was caught up in all the excitement and I just feel so comfortable around you that I didn’t. To be fair I did turn around. You saw my back. Which is not a big deal at all. Especially since we’ve been dating six months. I own bathing suits that cover up the same amount of skin, maybe less. I’m perfectly comfortable to walk around outside in one of them. Is that a problem too?”
She paused a moment to take a breath. She pushed her hair back so it wasn’t in her face and crossed her arms over her chest again before she started back up. “That is not even close to what I meant at all. You don’t need to act like a jerk at all.” She was doing her best not to raise her voice and to stay calm. There was no reason for his parents to hear them. The fact she was even thinking about what other people might think if she yelled was a vast improvement as to how she would have reacted the previous summer. “First of all I would never be at one of those Slytherins’ houses. I don’t even talk to them. There would be no reason for me to change my shirt anywhere near them,” she told him in a huff. “Second off, no, I would not just rip off my shirt and change in front of one of my Gryffindor guy friends without at least telling them not to turn around, but if they did walk in on me changing my shirt while I still had a bra on for some reason, I wouldn’t make a big deal about it, and I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t either.”
She took another breath. “It’s not like I was naked En. I just took off my shirt to change into a clean one. Stripping is not on my list of crazy hobbies believe it or not.” Now she was talking too much. She always talked a lot, but arguments were a lot more affective when they were short and to the point. Plus, then you didn’t say something you’d regret because you were angry, which she had probably already done several times. So, biting her tongue, she decided to let Enny speak. After all, that’s the way these fight things were supposed to go wasn’t it? She very rarely went off on someone and it was even less often she would bother to stay and wait for their reply. She looked at him waiting for a response.

Bleh. Sorry this took so long. I hope it’s not too dreadful. Angry Jenny is weird too. Her words didn’t flow like they usually do. >.>]

Enny watched as Jenny's face passed through 'shocked' and 'hurt' to finally settle on 'angry' as he continued his rant. He knew he was probably saying things that were at least slightly ridiculous, but he couldn't help it. Enny was a very reserved person, and Jenny's freeness, even if it was brought about by comfort, had shocked him to the core.
Now that Jenny was explaining more, he was beginning to understand her thinking, but he still couldn't quite grasp her lack of concern. "A bathing suit is a different case, because it has a different concept behind it. A bathing suit is meant to be the outermost layer, just like a leotard for ballet. It's meant to be seen. Even though bathing suits can cover less than... underwear... they're still meant as the outer layer, and designate to a certain situation. You don't wear a bathing suit unless you're going swimming. Underwear is, as the name implies, meant to be worn as an under layer, a layer meant to not be seen. In order for seeing that layer to be appropriate, it requires a certain sequence of events to lead up to it, a sequence that we haven't completed yet."
Jenny calling him a jerk stung. Enny was an all-around good guy, he didn't get into trouble, and he didn't cause any. So for Jenny to say, explicitly, that he was being a jerk was rather unexpected. "I'm not trying to be mean. Whether or not you actually associate with the people I mentioned is irrelevant, they were just an example. When you say you forgot you 'shouldn't change with a boy in the room' it implies that all boys are of the same status, be them rival, ally, or boyfriend."
While speaking, Enny's stance had shifted from agitated to sheepish, his hands finding their way into his pockets and his head lowering. "Though, I must admit that I'm relieved to hear that you don't habitually change in front of people... It's just... when you say things like you forget to not change in front of people, it seems, to me at least, like you have very little respect for privacy. Like nothing is important to protect. Call me old fashioned, but there's really only one situation I can think of where various forms of nudity would be expected, and this isn't it."

He made sense of course. He always did. Enny was a Ravenclaw, and that’s what Ravenclaws do. Make sense. That didn’t mean she agreed with him. Just because something made sense didn’t mean it was right. The reverse certainly wasn’t true. Take the two of them for example. Jenny and Enny were as different as night and day. They didn’t make sense as friends, much less girlfriend and boyfriend. They were certainly right though. “Just because something is a social convention, it doesn’t mean it actually matters. I mean, I understand where you’re coming from, but why should the intention for making something matter if it works the same way?” Social conventions were not Jenny’s thing. In fact she often tried to break away from social conventions.
She really wasn’t nearly as mad as she had been at first. She felt kind of bad for saying he had been acting like a jerk. Yes, he was being kind of ridiculous, but he was the sweetest guy she knew. “Well that’s not what I was trying to imply. I do things without thinking. I don’t think of what I’m saying and what it might apply or something. Obviously all guys are not the same status. I don’t get nervous about meeting my guy friends’ parents. I certainly don’t go around kissing random guys.”
The corner of Jenny’s lips twitched. It was really hard to stay mad at Enny at all. “Well I do have very little respect for privacy in general. I do agree with you on one thing though.” She started walking towards him. “There really is only one situation where various forms of nudity are really socially acceptable.” She was right in front of him now. “I’d say right now might be an appropriate though, hmm? We did just have a fight after all. What do couples usually do after a fight Enny?” In case he didn’t get the joking (sort of) hints she grabbed the corner of his shirt and lifted it up over his head not bothering to be careful of the soot on the shirt. She wasn’t too much shorter than him so it was fairly easy for her to do. “Are we even now?” she asked.
Then it sort of dawned on her what she had done. She had been rash, again, and that now was probably not the right time or place to be ripping of her boyfriend’s shirt since they had just had a fight about privacy or whatever. At least it wasn’t her clothes… right? Not to mention his parents were just in the other room. Plus the whole shirtless thing was making it kind of hard for her to think clearly so that she could concentrate on not doing things like this. For a Ravenclaw he was really, well, toned actually. Hopefully he wouldn’t be too mad... She looked up at him her blue eyes wide open in shock. She had surprised even herself. “Sorry?” she tried biting the bottom of her liip. She looked like a little kid who had just done something she wasn’t supposed to do.

Jenny was making more sense the more she talked, the opposite of what usually happened with Jenny. Usually the more she talked the less sense she made, but since she had been angry to start with, as she calmed down she made more sense. He still didn't quite understand the way she thought, but Enny was fairly confident that that particular miracle would never occur.
As Jenny started walking towards him, it took a lot of will power for Enny to not back up. Of course, if he did back up, he would back straight into his armchair, and fall into it, which would make her laugh, and then she would lose her train of thought, which would effectively end her side of the argument. That wasn't how discussions should end - they shouldn't be abruptly cut off by distraction, they should continue until each person had a satisfactory understanding of the other side's view. Thus, Enny stayed where he was.
Soon Jenny was standing directly in front of him, close enough to where he could wrap his arms around her if he wanted, but then it'd be almost the same situation as the chair, so he kept his hands to himself.
"After a fight you.. make up? That is, assuming that during the course of the argument neither party was offended to the point of making a decision to never speak to the other again, that would make making up a bit difficult..." Enny trailed off, thinking of other circumstances a fight could end under, when he felt a slight pressure against his abdomen. Well, it wans't a pressure, really, more of a slight friction, like his shirt was sliding up his stomach. But he was standing up, how could his shirt be sliding up his stomach?
Enny's eyes moved back to Jenny just before there was a pressure on the underside of his arms and he instinctively raised his arms above his head. Next thing he knew, his vision was blocked as his t-shirt slid up and over his head. Once he could see again, his arms fell back down to his sides, and his eyes once again met Jenny's, although they were quite a bit wider than they had been a moment ago.
Enny's arms didn't stay at his side for long. They crossed themselves across his stomach, his shoulders hunching forward. He had never been shirtless in front of anyone before, except of course his parents, various doctors, and his roommates. Even in his dorm he usually turned his back and changed his shirt as quickly as possible. Even on the few occasions he had gone swimming he had usually worn a t-shirt with his swim trunks since he was so fair-skinned he burned like toast when he was out in the sun too long. No one significant had seen him without a shirt, let alone removed it for him.
He didn't know what Jenny would think of him. He knew that he was scrawny compared to the other boys his age, thinner than a lot of them too. He had a little muscle definition, most likely from walking up and down Hogwarts' never-ending staircases while carrying a textbook-filled bag, but he wouldn't consider himself in the least. Then again, he also hadn't given it much thought.
Jenny's 'sorry' reminded him of television programs he watched when he was a child, when the character got caught doing something they weren't supposed to be, and weren't sorry in the least. "No, you're not sorry. If you were sorry you'd be babbling about how sorry you were, and how it would never happen again."
Enny looked away from Jenny, arbitrarily looking at his bed and finding that Jenny's shirt was still there. Then it occurred to him that she had mentioned something about this becoming one of 'those kind' of situations, and that soon after she had removed his shirt.
"Honestly I'm not entirely sure what to be thinking about this. I can't decide whether to be upset that you just forcibly removed my clothing, or to interpret in another direction." Enny looked back at Jenny, though he didn't turn his head to face her. "Maybe you should help persuade my reaction towards one side or the other?"
Enny had no idea what he was getting himself into, but he usually didn't when Jenny was involved. A small part of his mind reminded him that his parents were waiting on them for lunch, but at the moment he decided this was more important. He could always try to pass off their lateness on Jenny exploring... the house, of course.
