Grand Opening

Well we've been up and running for a little while now, but I think it's about time we opened to the general public and start advertising to get new members in so the site doesn't die off again. So the advertising will begin Friday.

Before we open we have a few little things we need to take care of though.

1. Plot & Ad: The two kind of go together and we need both before we start advertising. Penny was going to write them, but she's super with her Chinese class so if anyone is interested please let me know. We'd REALLY appreciate it.

2. Display Names: Go vote in the poll and tell us what you want the display names to look like. The poll will be closed on Friday and the standard will be set!

3. Face Claims: We need you to officially claim/reserve your faces. I know you all posted them in the Old Members thread, but as of Friday those claims will be void.

4. Canons: Please, please, please try to get your canon apps ASAP. All of the claims in the old members thread that have not been completed will be put on reserve until Tuesday, March 16. After that they'll be up for grabs again. However, if you can't finish your app for by then talk to an admin and we'll extend the deadline for up to two canons for you.

5. ... of the Months: We'll start voting for our first round of OTM's at the end of March so be thinking about who you might want to nominate as you frolic around the site. Possible categories include: Member, Character, Relationship (not necessarily romantic, could be friendship, hate, frienemy, sibling, etc.), and thread.

6. House Points: There are various things you can do to earn house points, including writing long (500+ words) posts, so check out the thread and help support your house!

7. Future Plot Idea: So Ellen has an idea of an upcoming plot we could work on. Some of you might remember the v-day, d-day thing we did a few years ago. We were thinking of something like that only to a larger degree. The plot would develop over time and it would sort of be the "Initiation" into the Death Eaters to attack other students. So we were wondering who would be interested in that idea & any elaborations you might have!

Maybe it's just me, but isn't it a bit too soon to start voting for '...of the month'? I mean, we don't have many members just yet, and it's just us 9 for now. I thought we'd wait until later.

Oh, and for the points, is it after 500 or 400 words? Because under House Points, it states it as after 400 words.

I don't think so. Hopefully we'll have more members by then and having OTM's makes the site look more active which will encourage more people to join. If y'all disagree though I have no problem waiting another month or so. Is it really nine of us? I hadn't realized.

Yes, it's after 400 words, but you don't earn any points until you hit 500. After 400 it's 10 points/100 words. So if you got 499 you wouldn't get any points, but if you get 500 you get 10 points.
