"There is more to the world then what you can see through your eyes"
"There is more to the world then what you can see through your eyes"

The Appearance
Hair: He has a lovely set of golden blonde hair. It usualy curly and a bit wavy and there are a few ringlets within his hair. However, when wet it flattens and you are ablle to see the different tones in his hair and you are able to see a mixture of browns with bits of blonde. But it won't be long until his hair is curly again. It annoys him sometimes because he prefers his hair when its flat. But sadly there's nothing he can do. He's just got to live with it.
Face: Jonathan used to have bright blue eyes but a terrible accident has left him with cursed eyes, one has become clouded and the other has become completely black with a small pinpoint of white and he is obviously very sensitive about them. Jonathan has a got a slight square faced shape to his face and a forehead which is larger then the average person. He doesn't show many expressions on his face and is quite a stern person; however some people believe he has a childlike nature to his appearance something that he cannot see nor understands.
Body & Style: Jonathan stands at around 5' 9" so he is just below the average man and he weighs around 136 pounds and he knows that this might not be completely healthy and that he should eat more but he hasn't got a huge appetite. Although a few of his friends are taller then him, his height doesn't bother him all that much. Height has nothing to do with defending yourself. It used to bother him when he was at school, but he's learnt over time that it doesn't matter what height you are. He is quite an average man body wise and only has a few muscles mostly on his arms and abdominal, he doesn't see the need for muscular strength when he can perform magic so he doesn't often visit the gym to 'pump some iron'
Distinguishing Features: Upon meetin Jonathan, you could probably feel a bit scared. A curse caused him to nearly go blind. But thankfully one was saved. But it remains slightly cloudy from the spell. His other eye is jet black, only a sharpspeck of white reamins. This causes most people to steer clear of him, they see it as some evil omen, and Jonathan is often alone because of it

Personality:
There has always been something different about Jonathan, and no one can actually pinpoint what it is. He just is different. Jonathan views the world differently to what others see it. He is often telling people "There is more to the world then what you can see through your eyes". And he should know that better then anyone. He tries to view the world like criminals would, and because of that, he is very successful at catching them. There is almost something sinister about him, he doesn't really believe people can change, but he is willing to give them a chance.
But though most people can't see it, there is a soft and gentle side to Jonathan. And after leaving the Auror buisness, he decided to go into teaching. He believes that children hold a lot of potential, and when around them. His cruel, sinister and cold side seems to be pushed aside. And a warmer and gentle side is shown. Although he knows everyone has potential to be evil, he'd rather not judge the students he teaches. Instead he does whatever he can to show them how wrong the Dark Arts are.
Jonathan is also described as a genius and has an IQ of 124 and this intellect can sometimes make it difficult for him to understand situations and for people to understand him. He enjoys spending his time solving problems, and can't help but get involved with things that will challenge his mind. It was the main reason he became an Auror. He loved the challenge of working out the enimies next move. And although that chapter has been closed, he still isn't unwilling to return if he's needed.
Although generally brave, since loosing the sight in his eye and almost loosing the other one. He has become a lot more cautious. Although he won't run away if he needs to fight, he now finds he can get quite scared. He feels a lot of anger towards the wizard who cursed him; but also a lot of fear. And although he wants to get revenge for what the wizard did, he is too afraid to confront him. His eyes used to be one of his best features, and he's afraid of what else might happen if they ever meet again.
Jonathan is very closed off, he is reluctant to share things about himself. Especially the reason why his eyes are like the way they are. He doesn't like sharing and doesn't really want to open his hear out to anyone. If anyone persists in questioning him about it, Jonathan can and most likely will show his crueler side and tell them that it's none of their concern. He is somewhat shy and lacks a bit of self esteem.
The Background
Family Members:
Martin: Father
Julie: Mother
Sister: Chrissie [deceased]
Residence: In Central London
History:Jonathan was born the youngest child to Martin and Julie. He had a sister who was four years older then him; Chrissie. Growing up, Jonathan was like any other boy. He had the most beautiful blue eyes, and everyone was always complimenting them. Jonathan often remarked on the fact that girls seemed to like his eyes, and he enjoyed the attention that he got. But he wasn't big headed about it, he decided that unlike some of his friends who took advantage of what they got, he was going to use his eyes in different ways. Like reading.
So from the age of 10, Jonathan began to read quite a lot, he soon developed quite an imagination and would often be writing his own stories for his own amusment. He then moved on to puzzles, and he would sit with his mother and they would go through crosswords and other puzzles together. His sister often got jealous of the time the two spent together, but it wasn't long before Jonathan was off on his own.
By the time he was accepted into Hogwarts, Jonathan began to spend a lot of time by himself. He enjoyed practising spells. And although loads of girls asked him out, he would rather work on challenges then go out with them. But from time to time he would accept, leaving a lot of other girls to be quite upset that he hadn't chosen them. But even with his girlfriends, Jonathan didn't do much with them. He didn't really see the point. And slowly but surely, people started to tease him for being frigid and a freak.
But Jonathan didn't care, he thought it cruel to sleep with a girl, he respected them and didn't understand why his friends had one night stands. He saw it as demeaning and cruel. Woman were people, they shouldn't be treated like objects. So slowly but surely, Jonathan began to seperate from his friends, he couldn't stand by and continue to watch them doing what they did.
Sadly, in Jonathan's final year diaster struck. His sister who had been working for the ministry was killed. Although the two had never really been close, Jonathan was deeply effected. He had planned to join the same department as her, in hope to grow closer to her. But that dream was soon destroyed. It was then that Jonathan decided to become an Auror and find his sister's killer.
Jonathan passed all of his exams with flying colours, and by the time he was twenty years old he had completed his Auror training. No sooner had he gotten his desk, Jonathan dug up the old file on his sister's murder. A whole new but familiar world was opened up to him. He saw it as one giant puzzle; a challenge for him to complete. He was given other cases and wizards to find, and of course Jonathan completed any job he was given. But his biggest ambition was still to find his sister's killer.
A year later, the killer was found. Jonathan had finally solved his puzzle and was standing face to face with the man who had destroyed his dreams. The two fought and eventually, Jonathan won. But at a price, he had killed the wizard. His bosses weren't pleased, but after a few months Jonathan was allowed to continue working. They understood the fight had gotten out of control, and knew that things like that sometimes happened.
His revenge satisfied, Jonathan contiued to help catch out of hand wizards and wizards turning bad. In his tenth year of being an Auror, he was seen as one of the best. He had a sharp mind and was able to analyse situations extreemly well. Some of his co workers felt worried around him, especially when Jonathan's mean streak showed. But he was a kind person at heart, and Jonathan enjoyed finally having friends who weren't animals like his old ones. And even though everyone always said he wasn't like ordinary people, they still respected him.
On one of his jobs, Jonathan with a team of others came across a really bad egg. It was a dark wizard they'd been after for a few years. Everyone was scared; even Jonathan. But he knew that if he held back, he'd end up injured. Or worse; dead. The team of Aurors fought, and a lot of people got injured. Jonathan knew the best thing to do was to retreat, but he also felt a duty to his job and to locking this wizard away. But he made the wrong decision and a curse was thrown at him.
A few weeks later, Jonathan woke up in St. Mungos; unable to see properly. At first he was terrified and he became quite distresssed. But one of the healers explained what had happened. The curse had hit him in the eyes, it had competly destroyed the eyes. Thankfully one had been saved, but it was still damaged. Looking at his appearance in a mirror; Jonathan was shocked. His once beautiful blue eyes were gone. His right eye was black and empty, and his left was seemingly normal, but had a slight greyness to it. Although Jonathan had always said looks weren't everything, the fact that his eyes had been destroyed hurt him.
But Jonathan was determined to carry on with his job, his boss was reluctant to give him work, but Jonathan insisited that he was fine. He had learnt to see what he could out of his left eye, and he found that at certain angles he could see out of his right eye. But only slightly. But he also trained himself to use his ears in a more precise way. And after a lot of persuasion, his boss agreed. But there was one condition, Jonathan would always have to have a partner with him. And although Jonathan was annoyed by this; he agreed.
It was very hard for Jonathan, especially when out chasing after dark wizards. And it was made harder by the fact that some of his co workers were afraid of him. They often muttered and whispered about how his eyes creepeed them out. And after a long and hard year, Jonathan decided to leave the ministry and become a teacher. It was a great loss on both parts. But Jonathan agreed to help out if they ever needed him.
This year will be his first year at Hogwarts, and Jonathan is hoping that he will be able to teach the students a lot about defending themselves.

What is your Boggart: purple monkeys holding carrots.... they're absolutely terrifying
RP Example:Jonathan sighed as he sat with his students essays before him. Rubbing his temple, he finished marking the essay that laid before him, giving it an all around A. The essay had been good, but the student could have done so much more, they'd gotten O's before, so Jonathan was somewhat concerned, maybe the student hadn't understood the lesson, or maybe they'd left it to the last minute. Whatever the reason, he'd ask the student about it when he saw them the next day. Looking at the pile he had left to do, he gritted his teeth and rubbed his eyes before placing his pen on the desk. He couldn't do any more, it was getting late and he was finding it hard to concentrate. And even with the room filled with candles, he was strill struggling to see the parchment before him. This was what he truely hated about being a professor, he could handle the students and the work, but he found it so hard with his bad sight. Not only were some students cold to him, but he often had difficulty with basic actions, and it frustrated him.
Pushing himself out of his chair, he waved his hand, cutting the flames on the canadles out. Standing in the darkness for the moment, he allowed himself to be consummed with the thought that for once he wasn't blinded. Anyone who walked in here would be the same as him, and it gave him great comfort. Though he still had some sight, it wasn't much. It was why he'd struggled at the ministry, and was partialy the reason why he'd quit. He often missed his job, it had been fun going out and catching dark wizards. But this was the best place for him, this way, he could help prevent dark wizards from being created. The last thing in ministry needed was more people like Voldemort.
Deciding it would be good to go for a walk to clear his head, Jonathan took his wan out, muttering 'Lumos' as he held it limply in his hand. As light began to shine from his wand, he began to slowly make his way out of the classroom, being careful not to accidently bump into anything. He already had enough bruises as it was, he didn't need anymore. He had considered setting out the classroom, in a way that would enable him to move around freely without the risk of injury, but it would have been pointless and it would only have highlighted his problem.
For a brief moment as Jonathan walked through the corridors, heading to an unknown area, his thoughts rested upon one of his students Diomedea Rosier. The last time the two had actualy talked, it hadn't ended well. In fact, it seemed Diomedea now disliked being around him. She had been quiter in lessons, and he was worried. When he'd last spoken to her, she hadn't been eating. And it seemed their conversation had angered her. Jonathan didn't understand how or why, but he assumed it was because he'd mentioned her mother. It would probably be sinsible to apologise, but Jonathan still believed he'd been right to bring up her mother. How else would he shock her into sorting herself out?
Pushing Diomedea out of his mind, Jonathan soon found himself in the North Tower. Stroking the wall beside him, he began to think of his own life at Hogwarts when he'd been a student. It seemed so long ago. Back then, life had been good. Back then he'd had everything, he'd had a family, a sister, and his sight. Now all of that was gone. Jonathan didn't regret his decision to get revenge for his sister, people always assumed he did, after all, it had affected him rather deeply. He'd been close to his sister, out of all the people he'd interacted with, she'd understood him the most. And loosing her had been like loosing himself. It had broken him.
Going to the window, he leaned against the frame and looked down to the grounds below him, he couldn't see it all that well, but his memory was sharp enough to allow him to know what was there. Hogwarts had hardly changed since he'd been a student, and Jonathan had often come here and looked down at the sea of students laughing away. It had been a hobby of sorts. And he had loved the view. Now all he saw was a sea of darkness. It did depress him at times, but he knew that nothing could be done. A curse couldn't be undone, and no spell could fix someone's sight. He was cursed to be like this for the rest of his life, he just had to accept it.
